Mount Rundle is one of the famous landmarks in Banff National Park. Any given evening you can expect to find photographers trying to get that perfect sunset shot of Mt Rundle with its reflections in Vermillion Lake. No worries – there is plenty of space so it never feels crowded.
Every sunset is different and sitting on the dock admiring the stages it takes is one of my favourite moments when visiting this national park.
This evening the sunset started off with a peachy colour while the last rays of the sun coloured the tops of Mount Rundle orange.
As the sun set the colour cooled of and turned into a lighter peach – before it turned all pink.
I don’t know where I’m going from here, but I promise it won’t be boring
– David Bowie

Gorgeous shots and great goals for 2016! All the best for 2016.
Thanks a bunch Darlene!
They are wonderful the sunset over Mount Rundle,
your photos are superb, I like the first, the colors are sublime …
Congratulations Inger. Thank you for sharing.
I wish you a beautiful Wednesday.
Hervé
Thank you so much for your generous comment Hervé!
You don’t capture photos , you do miracles !
Excellent…….!
Thank you so much much for your awesome comment! Much appreciated:)
Hi dear Inger!Happy New Year my friend!Lovely sunset colours above the snow-clad peaks and wonderful reflections on the placid waters!Hope you have another successful blogging year!
I spotted you on Twitter, you have a new follower 🙂
Thank you so much for your always so sweet comment Doda! I found you on Twitter as well:)
Stunning!
Thank you Cindy!
Gorgeous photos!
Much appreciated!
Stunning shots.
I use Instagram a lot more than Twitter and Facebook for the same reason–too time-consuming. You’ve just gained a new follower. 🙂
Thanks a bunch! I found you on Instagram as well:)
Beautiful shots. We’re hoping to climb Rundle in near future. It’s such an iconic mountain.
Best wishes for your 2016 goals. I’m o Instagram also. We should connect.
Interestingly my main focus for 2016 is also an outdoor photography. I’m hoping to start my own photography business, turn some of my shots into additional income by having them published in local outdoor magazines or print sales and I’m currently developing classes for those new to photography and processing.
Thank you so much!
We hiked the south summit of Mt Rundle a few years back. It was a great hike, awesome views! Met a mountain goat on that hike. A bit of a scramble to get to the top, but that will be a piece of cake for you guys. My understanding it is more of a scramble to get to the north summit.
After having seen you photos you shouldn’t have any problems getting your photos published. They are great! What is your Instagram username? You’ll find me as @69_degrees_north
I’m @gabigabs111
Good luck with the goals and many happy travels to You! This also will mean some quality reading for me, hence it’s also in my best interest 😆
Thank you so much Maciek! Looking forward to sharing travel stories for the year to come:)
Wow. You have plenty of skill now – you don’t need any more courses by the look of these photos!
Thanks a bunch Jennifer! You are being too sweet:)
Beautiful shots. One day I will visit Banff National Park.
Thanks Mani! If you ever go to Banff let me know and I’ll invite you for a coffee:)
Wonderful photo of a great place. Jim
Much appreciated Jim!
Thank you, Inger, for the three awesome Mt. Rundle photos and the David Bowie quote. Very nice. Also, I love your thinking on the blog post timing. Our goal as outdoors people is to not see nature through a viewfinder, but rather to experience it first. Recording it for sharing purposes, while important, is secondary.
Amen to that! I have to admit once a week is probably also a bit of a stretch. It will likely end up being like twice a month to be realistic. More time outdoor for 2016!
Happy 2016 Inger! May the year allow you lots of time in the great outdoors, and ample opportunity to share your beautiful photos with the world!
Thank you so much – and likewise! Keep sharing your amazing wildlife photos, I love seeing them:)
I love the first and third photos and I enjoyed reading your goals. I want to do more with photography as well, although I haven’t done anything in Instagram and don’t really know anything about it. Another blogger recommended it, too, so I may have to check into it. All the best in 2016.
janet
Thank you so much Janet for your sweet feedback! I love Instagram – but I guess you have to choose which of the social media you want to be on. Trying to be on all of them is just impossible. I started a pinterest account as well, but had to give it up. Took way too much time:)
All the best!
Beautiful photographs once again!
Thanks a bunch! Much appreciated:)
WOW! These photo’s are stunning you definitely have a gift, follow that passion. Look forward to watching you shine this year.
Kath
Thanks Kath! Much appreciate your sweet feedback and encouragement:)
Inger
Bravo!!
Thank you! 🙂
Inger you will definitely be hitting 5000 on Instagram. You are such an amazing photographer. I have seen a lot of photos of Rundle in my day but these are astounding.
My goals are to get IG as well, use time more efficiently, likely go to once a week posts vs 2, increase my understanding of SEO and the list goes on. 🙂
Oh one more … Meet the famous Inger in person. If you are ever interested in meeting for a coffee feel free to drop a note. Traveltalesoflife@gmail.com
Sue 🙂
Thanks a bunch for your awesome comment Sue! Mt Rundle is a ‘safe bet’ – it will always offer you some lovely shots. Let me know if you ever get a hang of the SEO thing, would love to learn. So far it seems more like witchcraft to me…haha! 🙂
That is the perfect description Inger. Maybe if we had magic wands we could figure out SEO. 🙂
I do like your blog goals. I have no really plans with my blog. I’ll see. Your photos are so beautiful. Happy outdoors in 2016. 😉
Thank you so much for your sweet comment – happy outdoors in 2016 to you too! 🙂
Well, you do have stunning material to work with but those are very fine shots. Did you need to spend much time in post processing? I don’t have patience for that. As you are aware I love the outdoors too and my walk is the only post I spend time with. I do sometimes feel that I should get involved with the technical side of photography, but to me it’s more about the story and the feelings. I’m afraid I have an old-fashioned brain which hasn’t taken kindly to Instagram so I’m in danger of being left behind in this dynamic age of ours. Good luck to you and your goals. 🙂
Thanks a lot Jo for your sweet comment! I will admit I do spent quite a bit of time on the post processing. I shot all my photos in raw format, which requires manual processing. But I do it because I love it and this it is a lot of fun. Otherwise I would just shot in jpeg directly. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to leave a comment.
Your Instagram feed is to die for! Following along! 🙂
Thanks a bunch Adri! What is your username on IG. I’ll follow back:)
Thanks! 🙂 It’s cityoftheweek_adri. And still can’t get enough of your feed!
Love the Bowie quote, and your photos are stunning. 🙂
Thanks Sylvia! I thought the Bowie quote was appropriate that day.
Very appropriate.
The photo are gorgeous!
Thank you so much! 🙂
Your photos are superb and magical I’m happy I found you
Thank you so much Marylou – much appreciated!
Wow wow wow – gorgeous shots.
Thanks a lot for your sweet comment! 🙂
Love Your photos!
Thank you, and thanks for stopping by! 🙂
Beautiful! I’m looking forward to Yellowstone, as I’ll be visiting in April.
Gorgeous photographs, Inger! 🙂 As to answer your question – I haven’t set too many goals for my blog since I am getting older, and it takes me an effort to travel, but I sure have some projects which I am going to share. Looking forward to your new adventures, and I do love your blog theme. Best for 2016! 🙂
Thank you so much Inese! Much appreciated:) I sure look forward to seeing your projects in 2016!
Great pictures!
Thanks Rob!
Great atmosphere and colors, I love it ! 😉
Thank you co much Cédric! Banff always offers a lovely atmosphere.
Stunning images Inger! It is a pleasure to see this fascinating place. Vermillion Lake. Take note! Beautiful country. Cheers!
Thank you so much! Vermillion Lake is a must should you ever find yourself in Banff National Park:)
Beautiful photos and best of luck reaching your goals in 2016!
Thank you so much Eliza! 🙂
Awesome post with those pics – and the quote! It was interesting to read about your goals: good luck! You’ll get there for sure! 🙂 I’m not on any social media because it’s so time consuming… and also because I don’t like doing something just because I should. But I know that as a blogger, if I wanted to grow, I should. Sounds like you’re taking all the right steps!
Thanks a bunch! My goals might change over the year, but at least they are my thoughts going into this new year. I guess I stick mostly to Instagram because I think it is fun. FB and Twitter is more of a side project to learn:)
Breathtaking photography and loving your goals for 2016! I just started my blog last year and along with all the other sites I find it really does take up so much time! I find I get so overwhelmed that I avoid them all 🙁 So, I’m thinking perhaps I will take a page outta your book and just focus on a few. I give most of my time to flickr and facebook. Are you on flickr?
Thanks Karin! I am fully aligned with you. Trying to cover all the social media just takes away any social life! 🙂 I’ll start with focusing on IG, if it doesn’t work for me I’ll switch:) No, I am not on flickr, do you use it a lot?
Flickr has fast become my favorite outlet, adore it. I feel it’s great to be with like-minded people on one site and it helps get the creative side moving, for me. Let me know if you join 🙂
These are absolutely gorgeous photos. The blogging community is a wonderful place to spend time, but as you note, there has to be a balance or you find yourself living online and not in the real world. Enjoy 2016 and good luck with your goals. 🙂
Thank you Judy! I agree, blogging is lots of fun, but I guess moderation is key. All the best for 2016!
Breathtaking photos. Yes, enjoy outdoor as much as you can! 🙂
Thanks Amy! I will – we went cross country skiing in Bragg Creek this weekend and it felt awesome to get out there now that it is not so cold:) Almost felt like easter!
Cross country skiing, very cool, Inger! I did once many, many years ago…. Downhill was a lot easier. 🙂
Stunning images, truly breathtaking…it must have been quite a scene. Glad to hear of your very sensible blogging goals! Looking forward to seeing more great images from your time spent outdoors
Thanks a bunch Sue! And those are pretty stretchy goals, I will likely end up with less than one blog per week, and that is perfectly fine! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to leave a comment.
You are most welcome, Inger!
I do like your mountain photos better than mine. Stunning!
I’m betting your increased blog focus will only make this a better place to read. If you don’t mind my asking, I’m wondering what you find appealing about Instagram. I keep looking at it but the interaction seems to be low at least the few places I’ve gone.
Thanks Lyle, you are being too sweet. You mountain captures are awesome.
I like Instagram for several reasons. It is low threshold to use, by that I mean I don’t have to spend much time to look through some great captures that inspires me. I only follow those who have similar interest as myself, so mainly outdoor photography / wildlife etc. Looking through their photos gives me inspiration for captures and locations I can visit. I follow a lot of local photographers /adventurers. Secondly it is a way of getting out to a group of folk that doesn’t have a blog and don’t want to invest time in reading blogs. I generally have much more interaction on IG than on my blog. But as any social media platform, you get what you give:)
That first photo is amazing! Good luck with your goals and the David Bowie quote is very poignant.
Thank you so much for your sweet comment! 🙂
I wish you good luck with your new goals !
Thanks a bunch! Not very hard set goals, I am sure I will end up with less than one post a week, which is just fine:)
II look forward to following you and your adventures in 2016! Definitely don’t sacrifice your love of the outdoors for social media – we’ll survive on a blog once a week from you!! 😀 I’ve noticed many, including myself, post once or max. twice a week. Have a fun year. Be careful!
Thanks a bunch Annika! We went out cross country skiing this weekend, lovely to get out of the city and get some fresh air! 🙂
Inger … I like your goals about photography and I might follow up on some you recommended. When I returned from Vegas last summer, I discovered some of my shots – especially of the Valley of Fire and Mt. Charleston – were very disappointing. I had the setting on incandescent (for indoor shots) and didn’t realize it.
I blogged once a week for about 3 years and plan to renew that once I’ve retired in May. Right now, for me, even once a week is too much.
Happy blogging and photo taking. I love yours. 😉
Judy – you should be able to save your photos with changing the white balance in either Lightroom or Photoshop. They are not lost yet! 🙂
I will have to agree that once a week it probably a bit ambitious. I will likely end up with less than that, and I am fully ok with it:) Having a full time job and a blog takes time! 🙂 And I really want to spend some of that time outdoor. But then again it is great fun to keep blogging so I guess it is all about finding the balance:)
You get to meet some wonderful friends thru blogging. 😉
so colorful and gorgeous 🙂
Much appreciated Joshi!
Good goals! Two of mine include improving my photography and improving my Spanish. What better way than to roam around in Mexico with my camera?
Thanks Emilie! Roaming around in Spain with a camera sounds awesome! Can’t wait to see the photos:)
Your photography is stunning Inger. I have no doubt that you will meet and exceed your 2016 goals. We are hoping to be in the Calgary area sometime this summer to visit friends. I don’t recall how close you live. Would love to meet you someday.
Thank Lu Ann, I really appreciate that. My goals are not carved in stone, I am sure that as life changes they will as well, but at least it is my starting point. We live in Calgary – let me know if you are here this summer! Would love to meet. Are you planning to being here for the Stampede? I would highly recommend experiencing it if you haven’t before.
I will definitely let you know when we firm up our plans. When is the Stampede? I seem to recall it being in September but I could be wrong.
Wonderful photo Inger. I have seen that spot photographed many times and you managed to take a unique and beautiful shot.
Thank you so much Alison, much appreciated! 🙂 It is a great spot – looks different every time we stop by. Haven’t seen any new blog posts from you in a while – miss your awesome desert photos!
Lycka till med dina mål, Inger! Dina foton… vad ska man säga? Helt fantastiska, underbara, overkliga och magiska!
Tusen takk for utrolig hyggelig kommentar! Ønsker deg et flott 2016! 🙂
lovely photos, as usual, and very great goals. I have set no goals for my blog, ever. And I usually set no goals for myself…I’m more a seat of the pants kind of guy
Thanks a bunch! I guess the goals are a bit hairy, but on purpose:) And I am sure they will change as the year passes by, but that is just fine:)
Btw – first time I ear ‘seat of the pants’ being used. had to google it and now I love that expression and will adopt it for sure!
OK…glad you learned a new phrase!!
Hello Inger! Beautiful classic shots of spectacular Mount Rundle! Love your photography. Good luck with your 2016 goals. You’ve set some fun goals for yourself and I’ve no doubt that you will meet them! My only goal for my blog is a very general one I had from the outset: that I only keep blogging for the enjoyment of the process. My photography goal for the year is to upload more photos to Getty Images. Happy New Year to you and yours! ~ Jeannie :))
Thank you so much Jeannie! Mt Rundle is always a safe bet when in Banff:)
I like your goal – keep blogging for the enjoyment of the process. That should be the clear overall goal for sure, I should have used that as the heading:)
I haven’t checked out Getty Images, is it a stock photo web site? Are you getting any sales on them? I have read it is getting more and more difficult to be visible on the stock photo agencies nowadays.
All the best for 2016!
Wow! Such stunning scenery! Of course, your photographic skills make it look so easy 😀
Thank you so much for your sweet comment! 🙂
Looking to your photos was like a wake from a beautiful dream
Thank you so much for the sweetest comment Marylou!
I like your ‘getting outdoors’ goal – cutting back time behind MacBook and IPad drastically is what gave me most satisfaction and has in fact improved the quality of my life!!! Haven’t quit the blog though.
Couldn’t agree more – life doesn’t happen in front of the Mac:)
That’s so true – I sometimes even wonder why we do it! I guess just social human nature?
So hard to express in words, how incredible these images are…
Simply stunning work 🙂
Thanks a lot for being an inspiration for all photography enthusiasts here 🙂
You are being too kind Sreejith! 🙂
To look for words … so splendid…
Beautiful photos of Mt. Rundle, one of my favorite spots in the Canadian Rockies. From the snow on the ground, I’m guessing this was late June? Just kidding! But, there is a saying that Banff has two seasons, winter and July-August.
Thanks a lot for the lovely comment Tom! I never get tired if Mt.Rundle – endless photo opportunities. I do miss Banff! I’d say Banff is still very nice in September and October as well:)
I miss Banff – amazing captures!
I miss Banff too! What a gorgeous spot:) When did you visit?
Love the play of light in photos
fantastic
